Promoting the sport of flat green bowls and providing opportunities for recreation and competition to all members of the local community.

BURY & DISTRICT LEAGUE
A poor start to the season, losing a number of games by one or two shots saw us at the foot of the table for much of the year. Despite a valiant effort in the last few weeks of the season, we could not overcome the deficit we gave ourselves eventually finishing in second to last place and doomed to relegation to Division 2.
WEST SUFFOLK LEAGUE
A highly creditable mid table position was achieved in a league that is restricted to male players. The competition is strong in this league where we meet some clubs who only play the Bowls England version of the game in Suffolk leagues.
BURY & DISTRICT FINALS
As the Bury League President for 2009 (John Chambers) is a member of our club, the finals this year were held on the Ixworth green. A cold but rain free day saw some good bowling across the green, and once again we had a successful day. After the disappointment of losing the League Shield Final last year by just 2 shots, this year we won it, beating St. Botolphs by 13 shots. Individual wins for Ann Lilley (Ladies Singles & Pairs), Pat Jennings (Pairs), John Chambers (Mens Singles); and Runners up Sue Peckitt (Ladies Singles & Mixed Pairs) and John Chambers (Mixed Pairs) saw us once again lift the Victor Ludorum - albeit sharing with St. Botolphs BC!
CAPTAIN ERROL
Our Club Captain Errol Feavearyear was not available for most of the season following an horrific industrial accident. He did however play from mid season onwards using a special bowlers wheelchair - proof that there’s no stopping a dedicated bowler! In September Errol was presented with the West Suffolk award for overcoming adversity in sport, a fitting tribute.

NATIONAL FINALS
Once again the club was represented at the National EBF Finals in Skegness. A ladies Three Bowl Triple of Ann Lilley, Pat Jennings and Christine Waters made it all the way to the final where they lost by a single shot. Well done and of course commiserations on not winning the final itself.
COUNTY FINALS
Ixworth bowler John Hemingway reached the Suffolk County Finals in the Veterans Singles competition. He lost to the eventual winner in the Semi-final, after winning in the Area Final against very experienced opposition. As well as winning the 3 Bowl Rink title, Ann and Pat also reached the County Finals in the Senior Pairs.
STOWMARKET LEAGUE
Congratulations to the Stowmarket League team under the captaincy of Aubrey Rogers, who won the Division Three Title by 9 points. This is a tremendous achievement considering that the team is largely made up of less experienced bowlers.
AREA ‘D’ TRIPLES LEAGUE
After a good start in this league, Ixworth were in with a chance of winning, but an indifferent close to the season saw us finish in a comfortable mid-table position
