Promoting the sport of flat green bowls and providing opportunities for recreation and competition to all members of the local community.
Social events are arranged by the Committee throughout the year, some bowling and others not. One of the most popular is the annual ladies versus men competition, which usually concludes with a fish and chip supper.
The evening is looked upon as a bit of fun, and this was reflected on one occasion when a male member turned out for the ladies!
Another evening that always proves popular is the Captains Night. This takes many forms, as inventive as the captain is capable of!
One year it happened to be fancy dress bowling. Other nights have included bowling through obstacles, a game of golf (not literally) on the green, and non-bowling pursuits such as karaoke, quizzes and a range of different styles
Not interested in bowling but would still like to belong!
At Ixworth we recognise that some people may not want to bowl themselves but would like to support partners or children who do; so we have introduced Social Membership.
The membership fee is a token one and it allows the social member to join in our numerous social events, such as the darts match against the local pub team, the fish and chip supper, dinner dance etc. And of course as a social member use can be made of the bar, which offers a wide range of drinks at affordable prices in the comfortable surroundings of
our new clubhouse.
The opening times of the bar coincide with our evening bowling activities, both outdoor and short mat and all advertised events.
