A big day for our club was the official opening of the new Clubhouse by our President Mr. John Thurlow, who had also helped us a great deal in its construction. The banner photograph is of the opening day.
The building had been a concerted effort by all the members, from those who carried out skilled tasks, to those who carried the materials and others who made refreshments for the workers. But it would never have been built without the fundraising and paperwork that goes with obtaining grants.
A side effect of obtaining funding from Sport England, is that the club promised to encourage more people to bowl and to have facilities for all. We now have a Youth Section and have links with the local school; as well as equipment that will enable all people, regardless of their physical abilities to bowl on one of the best greens in the area.
