FINDING US.

If you are traveling from Bury St. Edmunds, take the first turning for Ixworth, follow the road round, and just past the Church turn right (signed Village Hall) the green is on your right.  From Stowmarket take 2nd exit at the roundabout, turn right at the junction then right (signed Village Hall).  From Diss turn right at the first roundabout before the village, then left into the village.  Pass 2 PH and then turn left (signed Village Hall).  There is ample free parking and you will be made most welcome.

At Ixworth we play both codes of flat green bowls, namely English Bowling Federation (EBF) and through Ixworth Bowling Club to the English Bowling Association (Bowls England), and are affiliated to both National bodies;  we are also affiliated to both male and female County associations in both codes.   As one would expect their are differences in the rules from one code to another, giving rise to different tactics being used.  EBF is very much a drawing game - in most competitions only two bowls are used, while in EBA  an attacking approach is often called for.

Several of our players, both male and female have gained honours at county level winning singles, pairs and triples titles.  The club is well represented in county and other representative teams.

In 2007 we celebrated our centenary and had the honour of presenting Suffolk County Bowls Association with a cup named after our first ever President [Dr. J. S. Gelston] for their new  Senior Pairs competition (see picture on right).
Welcome to the web-site of  Ixworth bowls club.  The village of Ixworth is about 7 miles NE of  the historic town of Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk on the  A143.   The Post Code of the green is IP31 2HH
